Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine List of Services

Acupuncture-
Acupuncture is the use of small, thin needles to balance energy flow in the meridians or energy channels and their connecting organs. Energy can become blocked or stagnate requiring dispersing or releasing needles. Weak energy requires strengthening or tonifying points. Acupuncture harmonizes this systemic energy and keeps it in balance thru treatment and preventative maintenance.

Acupressure-
Acupressure is acupuncture without the use of needles. Pressure is applied to the same points and like acupuncture, energy can be dispersed or strengthened. Many imbalances can be treated with acupressure. Children and fearful adults can receive treatment without any "needle anxiety".

Electro-Acupuncture-
Electro-Acupuncture is the use of subtle electric currents thru the energy circuits of the body using leads connected to two acupuncture points. Often used to disperse hardenings like bone spurs, nodules, stones or scar tissue and relieving pain and inflammation.

Chinese Herbology-
Herbology is the use of natural plants, minerals and animal products, ingested to internally balance systemic energy. Pills, powders, teas, plasters, linaments and oils are all used.

Tui Na: Chinese Massage and Manipulation-
Tui Na is an ancient system of bodywork consisting of soft tissue massage, manual manipulation and energywork. The soft tissue massage uses different conceptual hand techniques which can be applied in unlimited ways providing
a unique and personal massage not a protocol or pattern. The manipulation in Tui Na is subtle and

Oriental Diet Therapy-
Diet Therapy is an individualized way of looking at nutrition. Through the use of Food Combining, Proper Meal Times and Food Energetics, a personal wayof eating and a wellness lifestyle are achieved.

Qi Gong (or Chi Kung): Meditation, Exercise and Energywork-
Qi Gong includes breathing, warm up exercises, energy sets, stretching, seated meditation and in some sets or forms, intense exercise. Qi Gong can also be used for the healing of others. Meridian theory, basic acupressure and Moxibustion-
"Moxa" is the burning of the herb, Mugwort/ Artemisia Folium (Ai Ye) to warm specific points or general areas. Needle moxa, moxa cones, moxa sticks and the moxa box all warm areas, increase circulation of energy, blood, and other fluids, build Yang energy and generally promotes health. Cupping- Cupping is the use of small jars or cups attached to the skin with negative pressure or suction. Cupping promotes the free flow of energy and blood, dispels wind, cold and dampness, reduces pain and swelling, as well as drawing out deep blockages and toxins.

Gua Sha: Scraping-
Gua Sha uses the scraping of the skin and muscle with a smooth tool to disperse stagnation and release toxins. Po Som On oil is the traditional linament.

Chinese Reflexology-
Hand and foot massage which activates the eastern meridians and the western dermatones or "reflexes".

Ear Candling-
Ear candling is the burning of conical candles placed in the ears to naturally open the ear canal and improve ear function.

Smudging-
Smudging is the burning of Sage, Moxa or other herbs to aromatically and spiritually cleanse a person, space or object.

Feng Shui: Environmental Balancing-
Feng Shui, literally wind and water, is the use of energy principles to balance our home, work or recreational environment.

Taoist Philosophy and Counseling-
The principles of Taoism, which provides the basis for Oriental Medicine, are tools for self-awareness, self-improvement and self-discovery.

Tai Ji Quan-
An internal system of kung fu encompassing health exercises, stress relief, self-defense, longevity practices and Taoist Philosophy. Training includes qi gong, silk-reeling, walking, empty handed forms, weapon forms (broadsword, straight sword, staff, spear), push hands, combat applications (blocks, strikes, kicks, locks, throws), two man fighting set, and meditation. Supplemental training in Dragon Style Pa Kua Chang, Five Element Hsing Yi and Lan Shou Quan.

Progressive Arnis-Filipino Martial Arts in which training begins with a single stick. Empty Hand Self-Defense is immediately translated from the stick motions because students do not always have a stick. Kuntao Silat Cadena de Mano-
A blade and empty hand system which was the personal self-defense of the late Luis Oliverez, passed down to Ama Guro Billy Bryant, who is Guro Bailey's mentor. Elements include Kuntao (striking), Buno (throwing), Dumog (grappling), Panatukan (boxing), Suntukan (kickboxing), Silat
(manipulation), and Sandata (advanced weaponary).
Kenpo Karate
The science of street fighting, the study of combat motion and the Over Killsystem are all descriptions of Kenpo. The late Grandmaster Ed Parker created a practical and efficient system of self-defense which instills proper concepts of motion with devastating use of natural weapons and
leverage to overwhelm the opponent.

Taoist Kung Fu (Bai Qiao De Quan or Bai Quan for short)- Combination of External Kung Fu styles which Sifu Bailey has studied since childhood: Shaolin Quan (Basic Fist Set), Chang Chuan (Gung Li Chuan or Power Training Fist), Hung Gar (Tiger & Crane, Five Animal/ Five Element Fist). Line drills, conditioning exercises, and four stage fighting applications (block, strike, lock, throw) are discussed and practiced. Women's Self-Defense (A Fighting Chance) A Fighting Chance is a 12 week intensive Women's Self-Defense Program which teaches key elements of survival so that women will have "a fighting chance" if a situation occurs. Training and completion of the Junior Black Belt is similar to the "Rites of Passage" rituals which children do not get to experience in our modern culture. Pressure Point Fighting (Tui Te, Kyusho Jutsu, Dim Mak)
Basic course focuses on the defensive use of pressure points on the arms and legs to numb, paralyze or cause pain. The Intermediate course focuses on the healing and "wake up" techniques needed in the advanced course. The Advanced course combines set up points with stunning and knock out points.
